These paint-splattered mugs remind me of summers at the lake when my sister, friends, and I ran an all-girl painting crew. Every day ended with paint on our clothes and ridiculous stories. We drove our little red car with ladders on the roof from job to job, lived in swimsuits, ate on docks, jumped in the lake to cool off, picked blueberries, and sweat out the paint in the sauna. Summers in the old Caboose helped pay for university and taught us practical — and sometimes wild — lessons like painting cottages on cliff edges, scraping around wasp nests, or reaching boathouses with no decking. Those were magical times, and I’m so grateful for the memories. If you knew us between 1998 and 2011, we probably roped you into a day or week of hard work.
